Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Clip and secure points
  2. Advice is confirmed as to the location and identification of points to be clipped and secured
  3. Position that points are to be clipped in is confirmed
  4. Relevant yard personnel are contacted and informed as required in accordance with network owner policies and procedures
  5. Equipment is checked for availability and suitability to perform job in accordance with network owner policies and procedures
  6. Where required, points are placed in correct position in accordance with network owner policies and procedures
  7. Point clips are fitted in correct position and, where required, locked in accordance with network owner policies and procedures
  8. Relevant yard personnel are notified that points are clipped and secured
  9. Remove points clip
  10. Apply safety devices
  11. Remove safety devices

Performance is demonstrated consistently over a period of time and in a suitable range of contexts

Performance is demonstrated in a suitable context

Resources for assessment include

a range of relevant exercises andor other simulated practical and knowledge assessments andor

access to an appropriate relevant location in the rail yard

In both real and simulated environments access is required to

relevant and appropriate materials and equipment and

applicable documentation including procedures regulations and codes of practice

Method of assessment

Assessment of knowledge must be conducted through appropriate writtenoral tests

Practical assessment must occur

through activities in an appropriately simulated environment andor

in an appropriate range of situations in the workplace such as a rail yard
